Shrimad Surendra Theertha Swamiji
Shrimad Surendra Theertha Swamiji succeeded Shrimad Rajendra Theertha and became the 12th Swamiji.
During his tenure eight Matadhipatis of Udupi prevent Shrimad Rajendra from touring Udupi along with his honours. A ban was imposed on Swamiji’s movement. Swamiji filed a suit against the ban. Captain Thomos Munroe was the Chief Collector of Kanara Districts (North and South). On May 12, 1800, Captain Munroe delivered a judgement in Basrur in favour of the Swamiji. Accordingly Swamiji was given full rights to travel in the Kanara Districts with honours and titles. The judgement also accorded full security to the Swamiji.
Shrimad Surendra Theertha also installed the idol of Lord Venkataramana in Kundapura.
On June 16, 1831, Swamiji passed away in Alleppy. His Vrindavan is in Shri Venkatapati Temple of Alleppy.
